How to Grow Mushrooms in a Monotub

This video gives a quick 3-minute rundown on how to grow mushrooms in an unmodified monotub. This super easy method uses only coco coir and grain spawn in a plastic tote. Once the substrate is fully colonized and white with mycelium, just mist for humidity and fan for fresh air. It is important to start with high quality grain spawn and proper moisture content in your coco coir. This method is great for beginners and requires no prior experience, but it only works well for a select number of species. This video is meant as an overview, so please let us know if you have any questions!

Needed supplies:

  • High quality grain spawn of the appropriate species
  • Coco coir
  • Boiling water
  • Plastic tote
  • Water sprayer
  • Scale (optional)

Liquid Culture (verified buyer)
"This product is great! The injection port makes it really easy to inoculate with a liquid culture, and within days my mycelium was colonizing the bag. I will definitely purchase this again."
